According to the general population’s dietary recommendations, pregnant women should eat a balanced diet.On average, adult women need between 1,600 and 2,400 calories a day. Women who are more physically active may need more calories. Find out how many calories you need each day, based on your age, height, weight, and activity level. Vitamins and minerals.Comprehensive improvements in the nutritional and health status of women before and during pregnancy, will contribute to optimal fetal growth, better outcomes in childbirth, improved perinatal survival, and the potential for better long-term health in both the mother and child.A healthy diet throughout life promotes healthy pregnancy outcomes, supports normal growth, development and ageing, helps to maintain a healthy body weight, and reduces the risk of chronic disease leading to overall health and well-being.
